Kootenae House

Located just North of Invermere, British Columbia, Kootenae House National Historic Site of Canada is an archaeological site at the confluence of Toby Creek and the Columbia River. Some above ground remains, as well as surface depressions, mark where this trading fort once stood. The open grasslands, stands of Douglas Fir, and defensible terrace over the water evoke the qualities of the landscape at the time that Kootenae House stood on this location.

Pynelogs Art Gallery & Cultural Centre

This historical edifice also serves as the ‘home’ for the Columbia Valley Arts Council (CV Arts). This log facility is used as an art gallery throughout the year and the building also serves as the primary venue for a variety of arts related events. A gift shop featuring the works of local artists and artisans operates throughout the summer season. CV Arts also sponsors and hosts a number of musical, dramatic and comedy concerts, an independent film series and Open Mic Nights throughout the year at Pynelogs as well as at other local venues.
